The College campus is set within a number of buildings on a 40-acre site amidst a woodland setting in Sherwood Forest.
Portand College is based in Mansfield and wanted ensure the ongoing safety of the learners some of whom live onsite and some who visit for daytime classes. As vulnerable people it is essential that all areas can be closely monitored at all times to ensure their safety as they travel around campus.
The College had identified an area of the site that was not fully protected by CCTV surveillance and therefore wanted to install a new system within this area as well as upgrade and replace some existing cameras.
All new and existing camera were then integrated and networked so they could be monitored from a remote security office to provide the ability to monitor the surveillance cameras on a 24-hour basis.
It allows college staff to identify when learners are in need of assistance. It also helps to ensure the safety and security of the campus and provides retrievable data should evidence need to be accessed at a later date. The remote access enables 24-hour surveillance and reduces the need for a physical presence on site.
